Global Climate Strike: September 15th, 2023
On September 15, 2023, marches and rallies will be held around the world to urge leaders to take action against climate change. These events continue the Fridays for Future movement, led by young people. There will be an event on the Lower Sunshine Coast (in Davis Bay) and one in Vancouver. Join with others to advocate for life on this planet. The world needs your voice!
Small fire near Chapman Lake discovered Sept 10th
According to an article in the Coast Reporter, “There is a new wildfire burning near Chapman Lake and the Clowhom Lake fire has increased in size dramatically.”
Given the location of the fires in the park, upstream from our primary drinking water source areas, the SCCA reached out to government contacts to track the situation.
Snorkelling Adventures around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands
SCCA member Dr. Sara Ellison will be presenting a slide show at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt at 7pm, Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The intertidal zone of our local oceans are jam-packed with a myriad of incredible critters, from sea stars and anemones to corals and nudibranchs. Come and see what lies beneath our ocean’s surface.
