We are truly grateful to all of you for taking the time to engage with our work and support us throughout the year. Your support is so important to us.
As we approach the end of 2024 we know you are receiving mountains of fundraising emails in your inboxes. We hope you will consider donating to the SCCA to help us do our work. If you don’t have money to spare for the SCCA please don’t feel pressure to donate. But please do read on and celebrate some of the ways we are making gains to protect forests, watersheds, ecosystems and species.
With your support in 2024 we were able to:
- Stop BC Timber Sales from logging and enlist government support for a Water Sustainability Plan to protect aquifer recharge areas on Mount Elphinstone in the Átl’ḵa7tsem West Howe Sound Watershed.
- Influence a 12% reduction of the Annual Allowable Cut across the Sunshine Coast Natural Resource District through the 10 year Sunshine Coast Timber Supply Review.
- Partner up with My Sea to Sky to fight approvals and hold governments to account on the Woodfibre LNG and FortisBC pipeline projects.
- Bring back the World Oceans Day Celebration! event as part of our annual Sunshine Coast Ocean Festival.
- Engage and inform the community on provincial election issues and encourage Sunshine Coasters to vote for candidates that will support conservation.
