Volunteer Opportunity: Treasurer, Board of Directors, SCCA
The Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA) is seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors in the fall of 2025.
This is a governance and oversight role, not a bookkeeping position.
Our financial operations are handled by a staff team that includes a bookkeeper, an accountant, an Administrator, and an Executive Director. The Treasurer provides board-level oversight, helps uphold financial accountability, and holds signing authority on behalf of the organization.
Key responsibilities:
- Review financial reports prepared by staff and ensure the board meets its fiduciary duties
- Support board-level budgeting, policy compliance, and financial risk oversight
- Hold signing authority for bank accounts
- Attend bi-monthly board meetings (90 minutes) and read the financial report in advance
- Support the AGM by reviewing the year-end financial statement and presenting a brief summary
Estimated time commitment:
~2–3 hours every month (includes meeting attendance and report review)
Ideal candidates will have:
- Basic financial literacy and confidence in reviewing financial statements
- A collaborative, big-picture mindset aligned with our Policy Governance model
- A commitment to environmental protection and good governance
If you’re ready to use your financial skills to support conservation—without taking on operational tasks—we’d love to hear from you.
