Lagoon Society seeks BioBlitz volunteers

The Ruby Lake Lagoon Society is hosting their 6th Annual BioBlitz event on May 18th and 19th in Pender Harbour. Part contest, part festival, part educational event and part scientific enterprise, a BioBlitz is a 24-hour survey of all life at various field locations throughout the Pender Harbour area including the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve.

They are looking for keen nature lovers who can help identify species (from trees, plants & mosses to aquatic invertebrates, insects and marine life) and love to share their knowledge with the public, to join their team of volunteer guides at field survey locations, or help ID specimens at Base Camp throughout the day on Saturday.

They are also looking for general event volunteers.

Perks include accommodation for off-coast volunteers, reimbursement of travel expenses, great food throughout the weekend, and super-cool BioBlitz t-shirts.

If interested, please contact Nadi at the Iris Griffith Centre:  604.883.9201 or bioblitz@lagoonsociety.com.
