Get Ready to Vote!

On October 19, 2024, British Columbians will head to the polls to vote in the provincial election. Provincial Elections are pivotal in shaping the future of our communities and deciding the fate of the natural environment.

When to Vote

Advanced Voting: October 10-16, 2024 (Closed Thanksgiving Day – October 14, 2024)

General Voting Day: October 19, 2024

Where to Vote

The upper and lower Sunshine Coast are in the Powell River-Sunshine Coast Electoral District. You can find a list of preliminary voting locations for all electoral districts here. If you don’t live on the Sunshine Coast, you can use the My District App to find your district.

Who Can Vote

To vote at the upcoming provincial election you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old on or before October 19, 2024.
  • Be a resident of British Columbia since at least April 18, 2024.
  • Be registered to vote. If you’re not registered yet, you can register online, by phone, mail, or in-person.

Ways to Vote

In-Person on Election Day: You can vote at your assigned voting place on October 19, preliminary list of locations here.

Advance Voting: Advance voting is available for several days before the election, see here for the preliminary list of locations.

Vote by Mail: If you want to vote by mail you need to request a voting package. Vote by mail package requests must be received by Elections BC by October 13, 2024. Your completed ballot must be received by Elections BC before the close of voting at 8 pm on election day (October 19, 2024).

Vote at a District Electoral Office: You can vote at any district electoral office from the time the election is called (scheduled for September 21, 2024) until 4:00 PM on election day (October 19, 2024). A list of District Electoral Offices will be published here when available.
