District of Sechelt Environmental All-Candidates Meeting
Local Elections
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, voters across British Columbia will elect local government councils and regional district boards to govern for the next four years.
Local governments make decisions that directly affect our communities and natural environment, including land use, water, transportation, development, climate resilience and the protection of ecosystems.
Engaging Candidates
This year, the SCCA is organizing three environmental all-candidates meetings for candidates seeking election to the Town of Gibsons, District of Sechelt, and Sunshine Coast Regional District. These meetings will give community members an opportunity to learn more about candidates’ priorities and approaches to the environmental challenges facing the Sunshine Coast.
The official nomination period runs from September 1–11, 2026. Candidate information for Gibsons, Sechelt and the SCRD will be added as it becomes available through the respective local governments.
