BC initiates Implementation Planning for two coastal at-risk species

An Implementation Planning process for Marbled Murrelets and Northern Goshawks has been initiated by the Province. The first consultations with stakeholders and the public have been completed. The purpose of this process is to protect suitable habitat for these two species and satisfy provincial obligations under the federal Species At Risk Act (SARA).

The SCCA has made a submission to the Implementation Planning Team which you may view here. As well, we have published a briefing note for advocates: Law, Policy and Marbled Murrelets in the Sunshine Coast Forest District.Click here to view this document.

Currently, the SCCA has 50 Marbled Murrelet Wildlife Habitat Area nominations in process. View overview maps of these nominations here.
