Local government decides more about the Sunshine Coast’s water, forests, and shorelines than most people realize. Councils and the SCRD board set bylaws, approve developments, and write the Official Community Plans that determine whether our watersheds stay healthy. On Saturday, October 17, we choose who holds that power for the next four years.
Come to the All-Candidates Meetings!
We are hosting three all-candidates meetings, one for each local government: the SCRD, the Town of Gibsons, and the District of Sechelt.
Each meeting includes time for public questions, and all questions must be submitted in writing. At in-person meetings, bring your question written out or write one when you arrive, then hand it in at the questions table. On Zoom, type it in the chat. Volunteers will compile the questions and pass them to the moderator to put to the candidates.
Bring your friends and neighbours. Let’s fill the room and show the candidates how much we care about the environment!
Sunday, October 4, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Online via Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/85427620045
Halfmoon Bay (Area B) and Roberts Creek (Area D) are contested this year. If you live there, your vote decides these seats.
Town of Gibsons: Monday, October 5
Doors 6:00 p.m., meeting 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109, 747 Gibsons Way
District of Sechelt: Tuesday, October 6
Doors 6:00 p.m., meeting 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

With 19 council candidates in Sechelt and 10 in Gibsons, we have extended the in-person meetings to two full hours. Candidates notice who shows up, and a full room tells them exactly what voters care about.
Then Vote
Advance voting runs Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17.
Read the answers. Come to the ACMs. Vote like the coast depends on it, because it does.
