On Saturday, October 17, 2026, voters across British Columbia will elect local government councils and regional district boards to govern for the next four years.
Local governments make decisions that directly affect our communities and natural environment, including land use, water, transportation, development, climate resilience and the protection of ecosystems.
To help Sunshine Coast residents make informed decisions, the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association is organizing three environmental all-candidates meetings for candidates seeking election to the Town of Gibsons, District of Sechelt, and Sunshine Coast Regional District.

Engaging Candidates
Since 2011, the SCCA has provided opportunities for Sunshine Coast voters to hear directly from candidates about environmental issues affecting our region.
These meetings help community members learn more about candidates’ priorities and approaches to the environmental challenges facing the Sunshine Coast. We will share additional information about the meeting format, participating candidates, and opportunities to submit questions through our mailing list as details are confirmed.
Candidate Information
The official nomination period runs from September 1–11, 2026. Candidates will be confirmed on September 18th. Candidate information for Gibsons, Sechelt, and the SCRD will be added to their respective websites as it becomes available.
