Keats Island Invasive Species Event

What’s the big deal about invasive plants?
Join the Keats Island Conservation Society for a free online talk about invasive species and their impact on biodiversity and ecosystems.
Presented by Richard Beard on November 23 at 10am Pacific Time.
What are invasive species? In British Columbia, an invasive species is defined as any non-native plant, animal, or microbe that has been introduced to the region—whether intentionally or accidentally—and that spreads rapidly, often outcompeting native species for resources. Invasive species can disrupt local ecosystems, reduce biodiversity, and harm native habitats. They can also pose threats to agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and recreation by altering landscapes and ecosystems in ways that negatively impact both natural and human environments.
