DESCRIPTION:The Sunshine Coast Ocean Festival is a vibrant annual celebration bringing together our coastal community to honour and protect the ocean that sustains us. Organized by the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA) and RhizomeUp! Media\, the festival offers a dynamic platform for education\, inspiration\, and action — fostering a deeper connection between people and the marine environment. \nThe 2026 program will include online learning\, film screenings\, a community celebration day\, and hands-on citizen science opportunities. DESCRIPTION:In 2022\, the shíshálh Nation and the syíyaya Reconciliation Movement partnered with the District of Sechelt to build on their ongoing Reconciliation work by hosting an 11-day celebration\, known as syíyaya Days.  \nThe celebration ends on Canada Day (July 1st) with a parade\, celebrating Canada while also recognizing our colonial history and celebrating the cultures of the First Peoples of this land. \nThe SCCA will hosting a booth at the event. Come say hi!
